The history of Hawaiian people is an amazing story to tell. There isn’t an exact date when Polynesian people first discovered the uninhabited island in the Pacific region of the world. The Hawaiian people didn’t develop writing or language yet so they passed history down to their generations in a form of chants. (2009, hawaiian-roots.com) Their records were long lost over a period of thousands of years ago, from wars and cities being destroyed by Mother Nature; such as volcanic eruptions and typhoons. Recorded Hawaiian history begins around early 1778, when Captain James Cook lands on the island and meets the Hawaiian people on the islands of Kauai and Niihau. (2006, MythicHawaii.com) Captain Cook wasn’t the first man to discover the islands but the first known European to arrive that was somewhat notable.
